Few months will have such a variety of opportunities as this month: to see and hear how God has been working, and to be a part of His ongoing work.
Sunday School
This month marks the beginning of the Sunday School year. Children are promoted. New studies are begun. It’s a great time to make Sunday morning Bible study a regular part of your spiritual growth plan (Sunday mornings at 9:30).
Awana Club with Fellowship Meal
This popular kids’ program of Scripture memory, Bible lessons, and games is growing! Meeting on Wednesday evenings beginning September 9 (6:30-8:00pm), this year we are adding a middle school program (called “Trek”).
We are also offering a fellowship meal for Awana or Prayer Meeting participants, served from 5:00 to 6:00. Your freewill donations will assist us to defray the costs.
50th Anniversary Celebration
Come and share memories or just enjoy seeing history displayed through photographs and memorabilia at our Open House, Saturday, September 12, 3:00-5:00pm. A special worship service at 5:00pm will be led by Dr. Ed Gregory, pastor of IBC from 1982-99.
On Sunday morning, an abbreviated Sunday School (9:30-10:15am) will allow a special worship service to begin at 10:30am.
A noon picnic at Cherry Hill Park will conclude the festivities for the day, with food provided by the Hostess Committee. Members are encouraged to bring folding chairs (as we hope for many guests), and to give priority seating under the pavilion to guests and former members. Food, drink and table service will be provided.
Association Annual Meeting
Come and learn what God has been doing in northeast Iowa. The annual meeting will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 5:00pm at Northbrook Baptist Church, 1700 Boyson Rd. NE. You will also be introduced to a number of missionaries who are visiting our area for the On Mission Celebration. Refreshments and childcare will be provided.
On Mission Celebration
Come and hear how God is at work through the lives of international and North American missionaries. Learn how our mission giving is supporting the Lord’s work. Visiting missionaries will share their experiences with us on Sunday, September 20 (10:45am and 6:00pm), and nightly, Monday through Wednesday at 6:30pm. On Tuesday evening, we will be joined by members of Northbrook Baptist Church.
A Church Planter for North Liberty
At our business meeting on Sunday evening, September 27, the church will vote on a recommendation that we sponsor a church planting work and a church planter in North Liberty. As the sponsor church, we would provide supervision, encouragement, prayer support, and participation with outreach events. Funding is being arranged from a number of sources, including the North American Mission Board, the Northeast Iowa Southern Baptist Association, First Baptist Church of Humboldt, Tennessee, and possibly others.
Come and celebrate what the Lord has done!
Come and join in what the Lord is doing!
