A Special Week for Everyone

A special week to gather together and focus on God's goodness can hardly be shrugged at.  The Father's calendar for His covenant people in the Old Testament included periodic week-long gatherings to worship and remember His grace. These included the feast of tabernacles and the feast of unleavened bread.

The Church today still sees the Lord do amazing works when a number of days are set apart to celebrate Him and remember His grace to us. Bible conferences, camps, revivals, and crusades are examples that perennially bear fruit. Vacation Bible School is another such opportunity, and we are planning for a great week together, August 1-7. Plan now to join us for a special week of Bible study, fellowship, and fun.

Carnival
Beginning with a Carnival, Saturday morning, August 1, from 9:00 to noon, bring your children of all ages to enjoy games, crafts, and food; and pre-enroll yourselves and your children for the week that follows.

Nightly Sessions
On Monday-Thursday, August 3-6, we will have nightly gatherings, 6-8 p.m., for all ages. Each night will feature a lesson featuring the apostle, Peter, and how Jesus changed his life. Music, games, crafts, and snacks will round out each session. While the lessons do fit together as a whole, each one is designed to stand alone (so if you cannot attend all of the sessions, you will still have a valuable experience each night that you participate—join us for as many nights as you can).

It’s not just for kids. I look forward to leading the Adult Class, though we will forego the “Games” and “Crafts” components! Come join us for a great time together!

Family Night
On Friday, August 7, a Family Night will feature a free spaghetti supper beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by an awards presentation at 6 p.m.

Workers’ Suppers. Supper will be provided for VBS workers and their families at 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Friday, workers and their families may also enjoy the spaghetti supper with our participating members and guests.

Safety Training
All volunteers working with children must complete Immanuel’s Safety Training course. If you have not completed this training, please contact the church office (ph. 365-9115). The next training session will be offered Saturday, July 25 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary. (Part 1: 9:00-10:15 a.m.; Part 2: 10:30-11:30 a.m.).

I hope you will plan to join us for this special week. If you would like to serve, please sign up on the table in the back of the Sanctuary, or contact the church office.
