We have tremendous opportunities this summer to work together to extend Christ's kingdom. As I share briefly about several of these, I invite you to seek to answer this question: “How would the Lord have me help?”
North Liberty Fellowship
We are working together with First Baptist Church, Humboldt, Tennessee, to start a church in North Liberty. Mr. Keelan Cook (College Ministry Director, FBC Humboldt) has been working with us since late May. He has designed a website (www.northlibertyfellowship.org) that I invite you to visit—it looks great; and many details can be found there.
Russ Stanphill (Youth Pastor, FBC Humboldt) is preparing to bring a team of about twenty youth and additional adults to lead a Day Camp, June 26-27 (Thursday-Friday, see ad), and a Block Party, June 28 (Saturday, see ad). The Day Camp will feature a sports skills curriculum (baseball, basketball, soccer, football) and a Bible Camp curriculum each day for kids. The Block Party will be a carnival-type event for the entire family. The ad designs on this page will be used on banners to be placed at Quail Ridge Park in North Liberty, the site for these events.
We need volunteers to serve food (popcorn, sno-cones, hot dogs, bottled water and juice boxes) and donations of food. We also need volunteers to help set up (and take down) the tent; and for daily clean up. You can sign up on the sheets in the auditorium, or contact the church office by phone (365-9115) or e-mail (
). Call if you have questions.
On Thursday afternoon (June 26, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.), the Humboldt team and Immanuel volunteers plan to bake cookies (in Immanuel's kitchen) to donate to the Mission of Hope. If you would like to assist, let me know.
On Friday afternoon (June 27, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.), the Humboldt team and Immanuel volunteers plan to pick up trash at public parks in North Liberty. This will be a quiet way to show our concern for the community, and our desire to be a blessing there. If you would like to join us, let me know.
Vacation Bible School
We will be working together at Immanuel's campus to present a VBS Kick-off (Saturday, August 2, 9 a.m.-noon), and VBS sessions for all ages, Monday through Friday, August 4 - 8, 6:00-8:30 p.m. This will be a great time to work together, whether you are a leader, a server, or a participant (be served). Last year was a great time together. Come join us, and be blessed!
